Our Philosophy

Curriculum

studying scienceEast Court's curriculum has been designed to provide a broad, thorough and stimulating education. Our curriculum is carefully suited to the dyslexic childs individual needs. We provide our children with a highly structured and sequential learning programme, taught within a caring, stimulating and therapeutic environment. We increase the confidence and self esteem of all our children so that they are free to fulfil their true potential.

Our children study a full curriculum which, although modified to suit the dyslexic child, is nonetheless academically challenging and exciting to learn. Every child studies English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities (Geography and History), Art, Information and Communication Technology, Typing, Physical Education, Drama and other subjects from the National Curriculum, with the exception of modern languages.

Motivitation

Study GroupWe show our children that learning can be fun! We also encourage in our children an increasing level of self-discipline that, when exercised in a caring and organised environment, helps them to learn effectively.

The learning process is necessarily intense and includes many tutorial sessions. No child is left alone in difficulty and every child's questions are fully answered.

Our children learn to succeed - often for the first time - and the effects are exciting and stimulating for them.

Exciting and Happy Classrooms

Happy ClassroomsA happy and exciting classroom is a successful one. Our children are taught in small groups who share similar degrees of difficulty.

The delight shown by our children as they rapidly overcome their difficulties and gain skills that had previously eluded them is echoed by parents and teachers alike. Every step forward is celebrated in smiles, renewed effort and gained confidence.

Extra curricular activities

Cricket TreamThere are lots of things to do at East Court. Our range of extra curricular activities is modelled on the interests of the children.

Youthful energy is directed into worth-while activities. There are supervised school visits to places of interest and provision for model making, swimming, tennis, golf, squash, board games, computing, chess, music and sewing. We organise camping expeditions, field trips, sailing and geographical projects.

Our full-boarding children are well entertained during weekends. This time is planned to be stimulating and fun at the same time.

Physical & Mental Development

RugbyExercise is the natural way for children to release the pent-up energy that they have built up during class work.

At East Court, exercise is taught in a constructive and planned manner. We encourage and involve those children whose co-ordination had previously made some aspects of sport difficult. We also challenge and stretch those who already have good sporting skills.

Team games build team spirit and the confidence for interaction on a one-to-one and team basis, in and out of school.

We also have an all-weather surface in our large Victorian garden to ensure that, regardless of the weather, our children can still enjoy their breaks, take part in the usual playground games, or just take a leisurely stroll in the tranquillity and privacy of our lovely, well maintained grounds.
